How Much Does Your Haylage Really Cost?

With prices as high as 30p for a kilo of haylage, it’s become almost as expensive as it is to feed concentrates. Large bales can be better value but it’s just not practical for many owners.

Most haylage sold is on a price per bale basis regardless of the weight or quality. For example, a 20kg bale at £5.50 works out at 27.5p per kilo. Compare this to our prices, which include delivery and analysis.

How much haylage do you need to order for your horse?

We’ve indicated the number of horses you could feed at a rate of 10kgs per day, with one bale of haylage, and what that would cost you. The bale prices and dimensions are purely guides.

The prices below include a 3 working day delivery for one pallet of 30 bales. Pallets weigh approximately between 690kgs - 725 kgs and you will be advised of the actual weight with the invoice.

Unless specifically requested with your order pallets are sent from whichever field is next in-line in the storage area.

Where prices per kilo are quoted at 0.5p and 0.75p, the total is rounded up to the nearest 1 penny.
e. g. 701kgs at 22.5p/kg = £157.725 and would be invoiced at £157.73. 701kgs at 22.75p/kg = £159.4775 and would be invoiced at £159.48

We only make medium bales to order. All our stock of medium bales was delivered by October 2007. However, we would be delighted to take your pre-order for the 2008 crop.

Pre-Ordering for 2007/2008

Most of our haylage has previously been sold to existing customers as unfortunately we couldn’t supply all the order enquiries we received. However, we are now able to increase production in order to cope with demand, due to further investment in new land and equipment.

To pre-order for example the 2008 small bale crop, you pay 10% to reserve your total order; for example, 90 bales at 24kgs/bale costing 21p/kg, totalling £453.60. You pay £45.36 to reserve the 3 pallets and then pay for each individual pallet, less the 10.0%, just before each order is dispatched. As you can receive a pallet at a time, you don’t have to pay for all your 3 pallets in one go. The minimum order is 1 pallet.

One pallet contains 30 bales and is weighed before dispatch so you only pay for the actual haylage you receive and not a price per bale regardless of the weight. You don’t pay for the pallet, as the weight of the pallet is excluded when we weigh the haylage.

If we don’t manage to supply your order for whatever reason, we simply refund your deposit, although if you cancel we charge a 10% cancellation fee.

Your Back Health
We now produce a small bale that weighs around 24kgs and is much easier to handle. As we charge by the much fairer method of per kilo instead of per bale, the size of the bale doesn’t matter to your pocket, only the health of your back!
